New Sump Throw Down

So today, after 2 years+ running with my old sump, I finally got the new one started. When I got into this hobby I wanted my sump in the basement, not thinking. Placed it upon a skid on the floor, works fine but two things happen, one more head pressure, two, can't drain/ clean with a bucket and siphon so sump debris tends to build up.

So last August I picked up a new sump box, this one will allow me to spread out more of my base rock and still maintain a skimmer, and pump spot. So I have already drained and removed my old sump, went out to the shop and cut and built the new stand, got it assembled and levelled up against the sump wall, roughed in for the drainage pipes from the DT using the existing pipes, currently patiently waiting while rocks are sitting in my old frag tank staying wet. I will also be building a custom float switch for my skimmer, more on that later, so now I am just waiting for my kid to get home and add the muscle to get the new box in its place.

Pics for now, once new sump is up and running I'll post more.

Now just waiting for system to settle in and clear up. Fresh sump and 100 gal water change.

Other system in basement as well, for curiosity sake. And then the turtle with another 72 gal system with sump as well. I've got lots of water flowing in my basement.

The new box is a 105gal. Nice is when system powers down total volume only raises approx 1" so skimmer won't need a high water shutdown on this system it will work fine.

Maybe I'm not seeing it right, but it looks as though the top horizontal portion of your stand is only attached to the vertical parts by screws. You should add vertical pieces between the top and bottom horizontal sections to support the load. Not trying to knock your work, just wanted to make a suggestion.
