As for aptasia- a little kalkwasser paste in a syringe does the trick every time!

I have tried this method many times but success is anything but 100% in fact sometime when they grow back its kill one make 3.  Perhaps if your dealing with one or two aiptasia and you can monitor the area but anything but and this method is not reliable at all IMO/IME.
