....not sure who else knows about this, back when I got into reefing (about 5 years ago) I found the most amazing, awe inspiring privately owned reef tank, on RC. This tank was located only a short distance away, in Oakville ... I couldn't believe the magnitude of this system.... Just found out the tank is no more. I WISH I HAD SEEN THIS TANK IN PERSON :( ... I remember years ago reading of an open house Peter had hosted for some local groups, a few days too late, and I missed the opportunity to see it with my own eyes.

I just decided to check in and catch up on his tank thread (it had been quite awhile since I followed it closely), when I discovered to my horror that the tank suffered a catastrophic failure in February, apparently due to manufacturing defects.

The company DID NOT stand behind their warranty. This tank was made by ATM (from the show Tanked)... just another reason to hate them.

I won't explain the whole scenario, those who are interested are welcome to read about the whole thing here.

Everything about this system was premeditated, and executed with surgical precision. Peter apparently spent $100,000 A YEAR on maintenance...
This was the epitome of a dream tank.... It exemplified the absolute pinnacle of this hobby.
Truly saddened by this news, I really hoped to see this tank in person one day. I can't come up with any words to describe how spectacular this system truly was... This post is a little scattered, because I really am shocked by the news.

Yes. He was a wonderful addition to the hobby. And was very generous with his time and information. I had somewhere that he was going to do it again, just with a slightly smaller tank from a different manufacturer.......

It split right at the sticker. Could have been due to the adhesive on that very sticker.

That tank cost over 100k. They basically told him to pound salt. Not a surprise really. They seem like dicks

just another capitalist american company that only care about profit. is sad thats how compabies are becomming. it seems customer service and satisfaction has been traded for cheap labour and parts from china (99% is far from 99.9)
