Please I'd This Leafy Plant/algae

Hi,

I bought some Cheatoes from ABD over a month ago and it appears I got a little extra.

Trying to identify this leafy plant. Thin jagged edged leaf

Best pic I could get.

Im not even close to being an expert, but i think it may be a type of macro algae.

dont look good to me but............
break off a few strands,it will grow back fast
take a couple of pics on a table or something white

Nope, also Jerry and his store has been closed down for quite a while.

It is a type of caulerpa by the looks of it.

Could be caulerpa mexicana or caulerpa scalpelliformis.

he is a great guy, it was sad when he closed but I do understand why..

It is not the worst caulerpa I have come across. It doesn't really break down to bad into bits. The worst kind are the ones that have really feathery leaves. They are so bad they have laws against them because at one time they were choking off the reefs in the wild. So you will not see them anymore.

When I grew it I found it wasn't a crazy fast grower or anything.

If it's in you display. I say get rid of it!!!

Caulerpa can be very invasive to other corals. Growing over top of them and smothering them from flow, light and irritating it to the point that polyps no longer extend.

I guess I'll try pulling as much as I can tomorrow when I do my water change. It's growing pretty well but so far nothing that I cant keep on top of in a 20 gallon.

I only run it in a sump. Any algae like that.
