Just placed an order with jl aquarist. Got a CSS 65 for my 55 gallon and two hydor power heads bringing my total to 3! Now I have a 750 gph a 1050 and a 425... Just curious on placement in my dt... I wanna recreate the most natural turbulence possible without unidirectional flow leaving dead spots... Already have too much detritus in sand... Any suggestions appreciated!!!

Not sure if this answers your question too well. I have 3 hydor's as well. I found great improvement in everything in the tank when I went out and bought two 15min increment timers, click off everyother notch, so 15 mins on, 15 mins off. stagger them so while one is on, the other is off. then I put 1 power head on the left side wall, and the other on the right sidewall, facing each other. the 3rd power head I have burried in rocks at the back of the tank, its on all the time.  I seem to get a nice effect this way, without spending tonnes of cash on a wave controller.

That sounds like a good idea almost mimicking a current. I wonder how much a controller is for the hydors? Something to look into. I'd like it if they could alternate in lesser increments. Seconds rather than mins. That would give the wave effect I would think. But they aren't even strength either so one would out power the other. Well thanks for your post it def made me think a diff way!!!!
