I need a pump for my Phos bon 150, I'm going to be running GFO in it, Should I buy a Maxijet 400 or 600 and what about the GFO how much should I use 1 pound,2 pounds. My Phosphate level is .40 with the Hanna Checker, Thanks Guys

You mean the Phosban reactor from Two Little Fish?

Neither will give you the tumbling you want with GFO on that reactor.

I couldn't get it to tumble using a Maxijet 1200.

I now use a Danner mag 18 to power 3 different reactors but yeah, the maxijet idea is junk. It simply can't push the GFO hard enough.

I use a maxijet 1200 dialed down in a tlf 150. I would use 1 cup HC-GFO and swap out once depleted.

I use a mj400 on my phosban 150s.....I run GFO and carbon in them. It will depend on the head height and hose length or any restrictions like that. Mine are very minimal and so the mj400 is more than enough for me. I don't think you need a mag18... ;)
I assume tony is talking about tapping the return line pump from the sump. I used to do this but found it easier to just use separate mj400s on each reactor.

Theres not much difference in price, about 5 bucks so maybe i'll use the 1200 and throttle it back, there's about a foot of tubing and no restrictions, Ok I'll get ordering that.  Thanks guys Appreciate the advice.

Nope. I have a second Mag 18 that runs my TLF 550 Carbon, TLF 550 GFO, TLF 150 Pellets. All teed off the same pump and with gate valves to control flow.

I have my GFO in a tlf 150 with a small old powerhead running it and I have it throttled back more than half way.  You don't want GFO tumbling hard just fluidized and barely moving across the surface.  Otherwise you will just be grinding up the GFO particles and preventing their porous surface layer from adsorbing the phosphates properly.

Tony if you're really swirling your GFO aggressively that would explain why it isn't working as well as expected and also all of the brown staining in your hoses...

I run 2 150s off 1 mj600 without a problem. GFO dialled back as from my understanding you just want the surface dancing around a bit. I tried a mj1200 and it worked but was kinda loude as I had to dial it back so much...

I was in Toronto yesterday, Dropped the kids off at Sick Kids then I had a couple of hours so I went to NAFB, I was looking for GFO but they had some Phos Guard. I bought some and placed it in a sock and put it into my big Aqua Clear. Hope it'll lower my Phosphate issues. By the way they had crap for Corals. All their tanks were empty.

I get my GFO from goreef, it's not high capacity though. I bought a foxface from Bill and he has loads of them in stock. They are real little characters and eat like monsters. My rocks are white in the areas he has attacked :)
