Currently running mag drive retirn pump. Last few days has become very noisey. Going to dry cleaning it this weekend. Wondered if noise is possibly being caused by lack of maintenance or because been run to long with low water level. If pumps no good any recommendations of a budget friendly pump?

Jebao DCT series are pretty decent for their price thats what im using though il be upgrading one day to the Apex Cor pump just for connectivity and other extras. Other than that pretty content with the Jebao performance. Thats with me only cleaning it every 6 months and shes been running strong for 4+ years now.

Jebao is definitely the go to for a cheap decent pump. My suggestion is to purchase a back up when you get a chance as they die spontaneously. I have had one last over a year and the other just a few months. I use a Vectra M1 now and absolutely love it but it is more expensive up front.

Mag drives last forever if maintained correctly.

However, lack of maintenance can cause some organic sludge buildup in the impeller area which could be causing some unwanted humming or noise.

However, if the pump was running in low water level and sucking in air for an extended time. You could've either damaged the magnetic impeller or cracked the ceramic shaft holding the impeller. Which would cause quite a ruckus.

My suggestion is to take it apart. Inspect it for damaged or worn out impeller and shaft. If everything looks good. Give it a good cleaning and possible do a vinegar bath on it. If it's just dirty. That will clean it up and have it running semi silent again.
