I have two large tangs, one purple and one yellow. I try and keep em well fed and they tend to stay out of each others way.

They are about 6" each or so and they live together with a bunch of other fish in my 220 gallon. If the day ever came, I'd sell off my yellow before my purple. The purple looks so much better IMO.

If I had the 2 of them I would also do the same, I love the purple tang, beautiful fish. But I do have a yellow now, it is also a beautiful fish I love how bright thy are.

Both are beautiful fish. I have yellow, purple and blue hippo tangs. In my case I would sell the purple because I would like to keep blue and yellow, two contrast colours. Also I had the yellow for longer time than purple .... I saw it growing. :).

4 tangs in a 160, bound to be some aggression. I love the sailfin tangs as well. Nice fish in that tank!

its well documented about body shape being the culprit. ive never had that problem.  2 yellow tangs minimum help to diffuse the problem. also, purple tangs should always go into the tank last.  try adding another yellow. they are better observed in groups anyways. or, quarantine the aggressor (im betting the purple) in your sump for 1 week, then reintroduce.

Having 4 good size tangs already in your 160gallon tank I would advise not adding another yellow tang as if you did it would have to be the same size as the other tangs and I think your tank would be way overstocked. What other fish live in your 160? Which skimmer again?

I definetly wouldn't add another tang to the mix, I can't believe that was even mentioned as an option. adding more gas to the fire. even know their fish, their still animals. If you had 2 dogs not getting along, would you add another dog.  Yes they are pack animals just like tangs.

hes got 2 tangs. a third isn't over doing it. the purple is the aggressor. pairing the the lone yellow tang will help.

no I think he has 3 Tangs

4. Yellow, purple, sail fin, hippo

three are from the same genus, maybe ditch the yellow and add a power blue or brown, adding another yellow imo is a disaster waiting to happen.

Yes you are probably right, I'll take the Yellow Tang off your hands if you're looking to get rid of him. I've got the room and he'd be a nice addition to my tank.
