Hey guys, ok so for christmas i got a 10 gallon hospital tank setup....i put in some base rock, and im going to add some live rock from my sump to help with the bacteria. I am doing a bare bottom tank as well. I have a HOB filter with floss media and a sub. heater. Now, i am ready to fill this bad boy up....Here's the question. ive read online that i am supposed to add the water from my main tank to the qt tank. To me this kinda seems redundant as my idea of a qt tank was to have PURE clean water for the fish to get used to. I do understand however, i will need to acclimate the fish from tank to tank with the water being different. But to me, adding hte water from my DT to QT doesn't seem right. I've added about 2 gallons of RO water thus far to it, without salt. I was going to fill the whole tank with RO and then add my salt as needed to match my SG from my DT. Heat it to 80 and let it cycle as i did in the beginning of my initial set up. WIll adding the water from my DT allow me to skip the cycling process? this is all too confusing. Any help will be appreciated! thanks

The idea of a quarantine tank is to prevent pests from entering your display tank. You can add water from your display tank to the quarantine but you don't want to add water from your quarantine tank to your display tank.
