Quiet Durso Drain

Hey Guys
Going to be plumbing my new cadlights 70g tank next week and it has the center acrylic overflow with 2 holes drilled in the bottom for overflow. Tank will be in the living room. Would prefer not to plumb over the back for herbie for appearance. Has anyone perfected the quiet durso with one drain ?

We were in a similar situation (2 holes) and tried a durso. We couldn't get it to be as quiet as we liked, and so ultimately went with a Herbie and return over the back.It is much quieter for us. But this particular tank is in our bedroom, and so we were wanting something that is especially quiet.

Anyone else have any luck with a quiet durso drain ? Also is the Herbie drain dead quiet?

My durso is pretty darn quiet. That being said the sump is in the basement, and I can hear gurgling down there. But at least it is away from my tank.

Ok so I decided to plumb my setup with the herbie method as I want silent operation.
One question is I have a 1" pipe and a 3/4" pipe for drains. Which pipe do I make the main
drain and which the emergency backupq
