What would be thje better reactor for the monney? Phosban has the tube that takes the water to the bottom and makes it go up thru the media and then the brs ones don't jhave that do they? Looks like it just comes in and out. Would the phosban be a better all around reactor, or would say the duel brs worl just as well wioth half the cost?

The brs ones are probably a lot better quality. I had a phosban two fish one and I could never get it not to leak.  I would go with two individual brs ones if you can, if not the dual one would be good.

Personally I run 2 TLF's and have never had any issues with either of them. I also personally think that 2 is better then running one so that you can dial each one in separately and maintain them separately.

Also, GFO has to tumble in the reactor and the carbon cant. If carbon tumbles you will be risking the carbon releasing organics back into the water. So basically...you will either be wasting GFO or risking the carbon releasing organics back into the water.

BRS rox carbon tumbles, there's absolutely no way around it, it's so tiny and fine...  From the crystal clear quality of my water, I think it still works.  Definitely has to be swapped out once a month though.

I have the phosban reactors.  There IS a ring in the lid that has to be removed and cleaned to make sure there's no crap in there, or they will leak.  I've never had one leak on me...

Yea its the downfall of the o-ring seal.....lol no seriously it wont leak if the o-ring is in good shape and you dont try dry  tightening or overtightening it.

I have 3 two little fishies reactors. I have never had any of them leak on me. I agree you shouldnt run carbon and gfo in the same reactor, especially if you want to get full use out of both mediums. The brs onez work well, they work on the same upflow principal...but they can be messy when doing maintenance. if you dont have room above your sump to mount the brs reactors, I recomend going with something else. Two little fishes being the next most economical imo.

I run a TLF with GFO - and every so often I do run with with GFO and carbon.  Works great, but I think the biggest downfall is that carbon likely needs to be replaces sooner than GFO, so you may chuck partially good GFO.  But I still do it every so often.
