It's not bad as far as hang on skimmers go.  Noisy as all hang on skimmers are:)

If ya get a good price go for it.  But there are better ones if you are going to buy new I think.

I use the Red Sea prizms on both my frag tanks, decent skimmer, pulls out sufficient skimmate IMO

I already love the hob reef octupus I bought yesterday! BH2000. What a great piece of equipment - that is once I got over the shock when I opened the box and realized I had to assemble it ! Once I figured it out and tested it to make sure all joints were leak free on it went in a temporary position to make sure I had it working correctly. Wow ! what a machine! Time flies when you're having fun 3 am I decidied I should head to bed. There's about an 1/8th of an inch of green tea in the bottom of the cup already. I think my in sump will be a reef octopus when I get the sump hooked up

I have had nothing but problems with my Super Reef Octopus 2000 INT in-sump skimmer... I'd advise against one.

I used a HOB Aqua C on my prior 55 gallon, it worked alright, but I found it noisy compared to an in-sump skimmer.

Tell me more about your octopus issues, I will be looking at a skimmer for the sump once I get it hooked up
