Ro And Very Hard Water

How do you guys in KW handle the really hard water? Last time I had a tank, I measured between 600 and 900 ppm. I found my DI got depleted very quickly.

I ended up running multiple cartridges and then re-charging them, not so easy to do in an apartment.

Besides a high rejection rate membrane is there anything else to be done to extend the life of the DI media?

Kitchener downtown, today
Tap water:470
After RO:30 (usually 40-60)
Cartridge 75gpd, about 3 years old.
If cartridge goes down pretty fast, would try a booster pump and additional micro filter.

I'm in Kitchener. After my water softener it usually comes in about 300-400 tds.

I pass through a sediment filter, 2 carbon blocks then to the membrane. After my membrane I get 7-10 tds. Then after my dual di cartridge. I always get 0tds.

Eric. Unfortunately, living in an apartment, I don't have control of my water access. Softening is not an option. If I were still in a house, this is the route I would go.

Are you talking about the RO membrane or the DI cartridge? With 30 to 60 ppm at the DI intake, your media would get exhausted very quickly, at least mine did.

Can you clarify?
