I have seen it take 24+ hrs. If you can find some mechanical media like floss or a filter sock it will help a little. When the substrate hits the water some of the substrate will break down releasing calcium into the water. Once it has dissolved fully it will clear.

When you first see it it is like oh crap what did i do?!? lol Sand is the worst. It is like it goes poof into the water.

I agree, always run a sock.. do don't the participles clogging your equipment...

Usually live sand comes with a small package of liquid that help to clear cloudiness quicker. I used it on mine and it worked.
