I use one similar for my hot tub and pool cover...it has rust on some of the screws, I don't know how well it would hold up to salt and salt buildup, I don't know of anyone who has used on in a tank, but that's me.

I wouldn't risk it all. It is designed to be used for regular water. Salt creep will corrode the cast aluminum. Also, who knows what material is used inside the pump. Saltwater pumps use magnetic driven parts, ceramic bearings, silicone, etc. It would also probably cost you a small fortune to run constantly, is excessively large and would be very noisy.

A decent return pump is extremely affordable so I wouldn't bother with something like that. Especially, for such an important component of your tank.

ya... i know, i was just weighing my options....
im going to use it for water changes :)
siphone water out of my tank into a tote, and use the pump to pump it outside to the field :)
i cant put my saltwater down the drain because we have a septic system and it will kill the bacteria that breaks down our waste lol
