Ok so I currently do not have a skimmer. I have a 55 gallon with 10 gal sump. Very very limited room in sump!!! I wanna run a skimmer in sump... Stuck between two skimmers.... Coralife super skimmer 125 or aquac urchin! Both are under 200 but I'm concerned about the foot print for a skimmer. Which should I run???

if its just the room in your sump that's your concern than you could look at a hang on skimmer or plumb one outside your tank
something like a Reef Medic turboflotor 1000 would be an option

ive read mixed reviews on the turboflotors...then again ive read mixed reviews about the css 125 and the aquac urchin lol....ugh its so frustrating i wish i had concrete evidence that supports my decision as to which one to buy i hate this. i don't wanna waste my money but i don't have a huge budget...the 200 dollar marker seems wonderful right now for me....im open to more suggestions. i had planned on plumbing the css outside the sump and only having the pump and the return in the tank. that would work.

I had great luck with my old TurboFloater. However, if your considering a turbo floater you might want to take a look at the Vertex IN-80. It has almost the same footprint and retails for about $190. The Vertex skimmer is in my opinion quite a bit better than the turbofloater and way better than the Coralife.

I don't have an opinion regarding the aqua-c (I've never used one).

If you have the room, you should look into getting a larger sump. Sumps are inexpensive and easy to make. I would hate to see you spend the same amount of money on a skimmer that does a 10th of the job as another, due to sump space.

Here is a link for the Vertex IN-80

Ok so This is basically what I'm up against as far as a skimmer goes. The section I wish to place the pump is 3.75 x 10x12...it's only a 10 gallon sump and that us where my overflow drains in and the water level never changes there. I can't fit an in so skimmer so hang on is the way I have to go.. However, I'm not hanging it on my dt it's going outside the sump with the pump and output in only! The next prob is I only have 23" of clearance in my stand... So any help would be greatt!!!!!!!!!!!! Please

Hello--I have a css 65 on my 65 gal. I have no sump so it is a hang on. As far as I am comcerned it works great lots of dark yuck BUT it has overflowed a few times. I drilled the cup and now have it draining into a container underneath. Good so far. I had a Tunze 9015 before on my 120 and the CSS 65 made way more yuck than the Tunze. Just my opinion-----Jerry

Prior to the last post I opted to give coralife a chance as I hear the new model of their skimmers is much better without all the modding. I too, I'm sure, will secum to the "I wasted my money the first time on a skimmer" attitude but I'm hoping I dont. It was cheap and I think it will serve it's purpose...
