Skimmer relation to feeding question

So very recently i started to feed my coral frozen brine, reef roids and a few other things,
very happy with the results and feeding will be part of my regular schedule,
but i have a qu:
after feeding my skimmer likes to go crazy, would it be ok to leave it off for a couple hours, or do i want it to run to remove the excess food not consumed by the corals, i know normally a skimmer shut down for a day even is no biggy, but im concerned about the ammount of nutrients in the water and how urgent it is to extract them...

thanks!

The food will take time to break down into what you don't want. Turning you're skimmer off while feeding won't hurt a thing at all, hell some people run full blown reefs with no skimmer at all. I wouldn't be worried about shutting it down while feeding, this way the skimmer won't take up food that hasn't been eating and it can go full cycle back to the tank

I've heard that when broadcast feeding stuff like Reef Roids it is good to leave the skimmer off for a while so the plankton doesn't get sucked right out of the water before the corals get a chance to consume it.  But I imagine when adding the brine shrimp you are probably target feeding, correct?  Probably not as big a deal to shut down the skimmer when doing that.

yea im target feeding, but i also shut off all the pumps when i do this including the return, i let everything feed for about 10-15 min then i turn the pumps back on and the remaining debris causes the skimmer to go haywire,

so last night i basically shut it off for 2 hours and turned it back on and dialed it as low as possible and it pulled out half a cup of dark water/slim by morning

Having the skimmer on while feeding from what I gather is kind of a waste as it takes some of the stuff you are currently feeding out before it has a chance to be consumed.

I usually turn off my powerheads (or turn them way down) & skimmer before feeding for this reason, and leave them off for say half an hour and then turn them back on afterwards

My skimmer does exact opposite to what you're describing when I'm feeling it stops foaming  all together you should experience no ill effects from turning your skimmer off for a couple hours I used to run mine on a cycle like the lights 12 on 12 off
