Snails in a bag

Anyone know how long mexican turbo snails can survive in the bag they were shipped in?  I'm having some delivered fedex today,  but i likely won't be home to acclimatize them.  My wife hates everything fish related (though she does stop to have a look in the tank quite often!), so i can't ask her to do it.  Will probably be about 24 hours after they were bagged by the time i get home from work.  Will they be ok, or will i need to go home when they arrive to set up drip?

So bag in tank with lights off should be ok?  Surely wife can do that! Thanks :)

They should be just fine that way!  Really they don't even need to be dripped, you could just have her cut open the bag and dump in a corner of the tank.  I got a snail package through a ReefCleaners.org group buy last year and that's how they recommend adding their livestock: http://www.reefcleaners.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=17&Itemid=67

I had no losses that I could see.  The snails were probably bagged for at least 24 hours.

Snails are coming from Incredible Aquarium.  I wondered if putting them in without dripping would be ok.  I float bagged fish for about 5 min just for temp and never had an issue.  Just always read snails are real intolerant of sudden chemistry changes.  That makes today's delivery a non issue! :)

It al depends if they are being shipped wet or dry.
If they are wet the water will most likely be polluted by the snails waste during shipping. A quick dose of alpha or some other amonia remover will quickly knock down the harmful levels and allow you to drip them to the correct ph (as the ph will have shifted during shipping due to the co2 bud up in the bag, usually around 6.23)
If the snails were shipped dry (the industry standard for Mexican turbos) then you should have no issues at all. Just cut open the bag, give them a quick rince in a bucket with abit of tank water (to remove any waste produced during shipping) then drop them in your tank, making sure the foot side is down.
Assuming they are shipped dry they will be fine for 48h plus. That is if the packaging is appropriate for the weather conditions.

Just have your wife float the bags until you are home. The snails will be fine. Once you get them, I use the blend method. Just add 1/4 or 1/2 cup of display water to the bag every 10 minutes or so. When the bag fills enough, dump half of it out and keep adding display water. Eventually, the water in the bag ends up being all your display water. For snails, I would just speed it up a bit and have them acclimated within 1 1/2 to 2 hours max.

Got home and placed snails in tank after bag had been floating in tank all afternoon.  All survived.  Thanks for all the input!  Now, i'm getting a bubbletip nem today.  Can't remember what i did when i got my first one.  Acclimation needed?
