I've had a chunk of metallic stylo for ages.  It bleached a bit from the new LED's, but looks fairly healthy.  Thing is, it doesn't seem to grow or expand.  Is there any special tips or care?  I have good growth on pretty much everything else, but wondering if there is something I'm missing on this one.  Oh it does get a light dusting of reef roids every so often...

Parameters are all very good.

stylo's usually dont like a lot of light. try moving a frag into some shade and see if it improves.

I've tried low light and high light, but trying not to move it a whole lot (I like when a coral settles in).  I might try the back edge of the tank where it's dark.  Too bad, it looks good under the blues.

I had been hiding it out of the light for a long time, and of course that's an area with less flow.  Now it's higher in the tank with much better flow, maybe that will make it happier.

I'll take a frag of that  ;D

It's funny, in a tank with major growth on every coral in it, there are 3 that won't grow at all.  What's funny, is they were all from the same store.  Probably a weird coincidence, but strange that for over 4 months these 3 corals have just sat completely static.

Corals I got from rick 2 weeks ago are already growing over the glue on the plugs.  It's just odd.

pull those corals and DIP them. They very well may have a bug or something on them that is interfering or agitating them.  Could also be a parasite.

another thing is they may not have been acclimated well enough and the original tank they came from may have had some wonky levels.

if nothing works trade em up for something different.

They were dipped in coralRX.  I think after 4 months they should be over any wonky water issues.  Dunno, there's a milli, a birdsnest and a stylo.  the milli and 'nest were incredibly small frags to begin with, but the stylo was a big piece.  Still, they're not dead, so I'm just letting them cruise along.  They don't take up much room at any rate,  ;D

try a fresh water dip.

i dipped some corals in coral rx then put them in tank water. then put them in a fresh water dip and stuff still came off. Coral RX isnt 100% perfect

Meh, with such tiny frags I'll just leave 'em be.  If the stylo doesn't come around I'll probably trade it out.  A little bit of millie isn't going to make me lose sleep either.

Now find me a dip that kills crabs and red bugs and I'll be impressed  ;D

I will gladly give you a frag of my frag ;)
Its almost doubled in size since I got it in the summer, still would like to see it "cook" alot longer though

Interceptor will do that.

Just give it some time though...if you received the frags in poor condition sometimes it can take months and months for them to get back on track (if they ever do).....but don't give up cause you never know.  That is if your not short on space.

I agree, they're not dying off so they'll just chill until they decide what they want to do.  Now let me come over and get some of those nice quality frags and save me from these sickly lfs specimens!  8)

I added a multicolour stylo from Darryl, we'll see if it outperforms the other one.  Polyps all opened today, so that's a good sign.

if you check out teebones tank he has that stylo dead centre at the top of his tank. that thing grows like a weed under high light - its done exceptionally well in his tank. I would say its tripled in size at the very least.
