I have a 40 Gal long aquarium I am going to use as a sump. 48" x 12" x 16"

I have a Vertex 130 skimmer, Eheim 1262 return pump, BRS Dual reactor.

I was looking at adding baffles to end up with 3 sections:

1 - Drains

2- Skimmer , Heater, Reactor

3 - Return pump

Given this, how tall would you make your baffles? How big would you make each section?

I am assuming section 1 can be small. section 2 would need to be the largest to fit all the equipment, then the third large enough to fit the return pump plus a little more room in case I need to throw something else in there.

Opinions?

How about something like this?

Section on the right would be about 11" high and the drain will end about 1" below the baffle so it keeps a siphon.

The next section will have a 9" baffle and only house the skimmer. That should keep the water level constant for the skimmer and if needed I can prop up the skimmer in inch or two so it sits somewhere between 7-9" deep in water.

The final section will have the return, reactor, thermometer and whatever else need to go in there.

Yes? No?

This is the plan that I followed for creating a 40 breeder sump. A 40 standard/tall will be a bit different, but should help:
