So it seems that the sump im using for my 135g is way to small. The whole sump fills with water when powers out, with some still.comin. and the sump full still.isnt enough to turn the return on let alone my skimmer. Not really sure what to do since i have space limitations under the stand. Do i add another tank to the other side drilled in the middle to take on the extra water? But if i do that ill still have tge issue of the water going back to the other sump. So close to having this tank going, now back to square 1. :( :(.

Do you run baffles in the sump?

How tall is the sump now? Can you fit taller under the stand?

Check valves aren't the best, but you may want to add them to your return and feed lines to limit what flows back to the sump. You'll need to take then apart quite frequently to clean them for reliability.

Thats what i was kinda thinking. I have a check valve on the retrn but its an old used one, and its not working lol. The return siphon is really the biggest issue.
Sorry and yes i have 2 baffles i had to remove one yesterday in hopes of lowering the water level in the first compartment to allow more water.

How many of you guys run a auto delay timer on your skimmers for power outages? Or is that one of main reasons for keeping the skimmer in a chamber that always has a consistent water level?

The danner mag drives should come with a vibration pad to put under the pump. I run a delay on pretty much all my equipment..... We have ha the power flicker on ad off like crazy now a couple times. First time killed our fridge and second time killed my ati t5 fixture (two ballasts to be exact)

IMO Never trust or use check valves! One they are flow killers... Second, no matter how often you clean one, the day the power goes out there will be a snail sucked into it.....especially if you're not there.

Keep your returns close to the water level or good siphon breaks at water level with backups 1/2 an inch down...
