So ive been debating on removing my freshwater fish to a smaller aquarium.until i can get them.sold and put my reef in there.. its about a 70-75gallon tank. Would i be ok to add some.dry rock to get more rock in there? Or will the dry rock cause a cycle and kill some corals? Any ideas and suggestions would be great thanks.

And ill just be taking out the rock and garbaging the sand, gonna go with sandless bottom, since i dont want any further problems that could affect acros(leaching ect.) And at this point i think ky sand is holding a lot of P04.

U will most definitely have some sort of cycle.  I wouldn't worry too much about it tho.  Many of us have done it.

Why would dry rock cause a cycle?  Unless you drop it on a fish, there's nothing to turn unto ammonia. I've added dry rock with no problems.

That would all depend on how clean it is I suppose.  The possibility of some sort of decayed organic matter being in the rock is a pretty good one.

Also will 5 t5s be sufficient for my sps in that tank? Just keep them up higher? I think the depths of both tanks are relatively the same. And so far no probs with light.

How do you stop the rock from moving when your.going with a sandless bottom?

Egg crate but that would look ugly. Just make sure you have it places on the bottom layer so it will not move.
