Hi everybody. So I picked up a 140 gallon long. Is a beautiful tank but as I was removing the overflow bulk eads I thought, " hmmmm maybe this stuck bulkhead will come out with a few taps". Lol so needless to say the channel locks slipped and I ended up cracking in between the drain and return bulkhead holes. Lol now I'm looking at disassembling and putting in a new base panel. Gonna go 5/8 undrilled and tempered glass and install a ghost overflow vs. the weirs. So my question to anybody who can answer is, is it better to have the base plate of glass as an insert between the panels or is it better to have all the panels resting on the base? Is currently resting on the base but I like the look of the insert better. Seems to me that logic would dictate that the insert would be stronger as there is more surface area in contact with glass. Any thought or sound data in support or against would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to your input. Thanks in advance.
