Tank Perameters

I tested my water perameters last night and this is what I got- nitrate 0, KH 8,Calc 420, Phos .07, PH 8.4. The high Ph alarms me. Why? because I've never had such a high PH in the past. I did put 1 Cap of Purple up in the tank to try and raise my Calcium level. It was sitting at 380. I know when I start dosing 3 Part that it should be able to be controlled easier but for now. Is 8.4 unusually high. There is no Algea at all except for a bit of Coraline. What do you think.

1 cap of purple up should do about nothing to change your cal/alk levels. I wouldn't worry about ph. I never once in the history of my tank have checked PH nor do I own a ph testing kit. only really necessary if your going to be using a cal reactor or dosing kalk imo.

Thanks, It's just that I've never had such a high PH ever, and I've been at this awhile. In the past I was using a DIY recipe for Calc, Alk, Mag and it was hard to maintain a PH of 8.1. But I'm ok with that cause I have no unwanted Algea and that's great.

IMO your current water parameters are fine. 8.4 is not super high. If you check on internet about pH values, you will find reefers that have awesome tanks at 8.5 and others at 7.8. I think that the main concern would be sudden pH variation, and not necessarily the actual value.

As I remember, I think that you do not have a lot of bio-load and addition of macro-algae may help increasing the pH little bit. Algae consume CO2 from the water column, which increases the pH level  ;).
