Any advice on using Rubbermaid tub as a temporary home for the contents of a 33G cube. I would move everything sand, rocks, fish and corals while repairing seal on tank. The protein skimmer heater and lights can be rigged to work. I am interested if plastic leaches bad things in to water. Looking for cheap alternative to buying a glass tank.

It will work, but I wouldn't add the sand back into the Rubbermaid, do everything but, then add new sand once you put everything back into tank, just add the new sand a cup a day until you get what you need in

Look for something that has a thick upper rim. If it is thing it will start to bow over a few days. I has one crack that way. If it is a few days I would say it is safe. But i wouldn't for longer then a week tops. Keep the lid on to help stop bowing. Best way is cut a hole to allow for heater and pump cords.
