ur talking about purigen (white balls).

rowaphos is just gfo. pricey gfo. the high capacity gfo from BRS is ok but its a b1tch to use cause of the fine granules.

I use a small tie-on mesh filter sock on the end of the output.  When I fill the reactors I hook the ro/di unit to it, and run that for a bit.  Never have a problem.

Im not saying i have to clean of tank but i have around 1ppm of nitrates and im noticing my Xenia not doing so well. im wondering if this can affect my other corals (hammer and mushrooms and aussie duncans) i do 5 gallons water change a week.  should i possibly be doing it bi-weekly? and what is a good nitrate reading for LPS? ive always went under 10 ppm for LPS and under 5 for SPS.  so basicly is 1 ppm to lower lol

Hey, still having issues?  My xenia receded to almost nothing over the past week, I looked in there at 2am last night, and it turns out it's my frogspawn, it's raging war on it at night, seems to have started right after my clownfish adopted the 'spawn.  Just could be a possibility.  It was something to see too, all these tentacles reaching over every time the powerhead turned off. 

I can definitely see how guys switch from softies to SPS...more and more I think I'm going to end up making the switch too.

them seem to have leveled off (but the pom pom xenia is melting on one side ) tho Rick warned me they are not good shippers.  i just got some Blue sympodium and its day two and not open fully.  it could be new tank syndrome cause im only 6 months old and i still have brown algae from cycling so.  im ordering my test kits this weekend and ill post up under here when i have results.    my tank doesn't have as many corals as you YET lol  but that sucks your coral is stinging them

Actually, it's not too bad, xenia can really take over, I was wondering how I was going to thin that herd.  Now if only I could get the frogspawn to tackle my crazy overgrowing red mushrooms!!!
