ive had my beautiful flame BTA from kevin tran , he said that he never spot fed them just lights and where it will catch in the water , it's been in my tank for a think a month maybe a little longer now and I've never spot fed it myself, it seems happy and healthy and massive! Should I maybe start feeding it or let it do its own thing from now on? As you can see half is bta half isn't lol im sure that's not a sign or poor nutrition?

I Feed my btp once a week with a small piece of shrimp. ... can't hurt and it's so cool to watch it feed... just yesterday my coral banded shrimp though tried stealing the food out of my btp and I fought it off with my turkey baste. ...lol

From my understanding from reading other forums it's assumed that the lighting is what encourages them to bubble up. Not 100% sure if that's correct but it's just what I've read. I have noticed that the ones in the LFS that are bubbled up are always under nice LEDs. I have crappy CFL bulbs on my tank (soon to be LEDs) and mine don't bubble up either. Although when I first caught one that split and placed it in a basket near the top it did start to bubble up a tiny bit.

So if it is the lighting that encourages them to bubble up perhaps the person you got it from had more/different lighting. I guess I'll find out if that's true when I get my new LEDs.
