So I purchased a rather big piece of Grn Montipora from Brandon, Really nice piece, But every where I put it my Turbos kick to the sand bed, I know Glue it in a crevice, Well It's a big piece, should I snap it in two cause eventually it'll grow out or glue the hell out of it. Thanks again

I wouldn't glue it to your rock work, Monti caps grow super fast, if I could go back I would have placed them differently.

I did wedge mine between few rocks. After little bit of growth it secured itself to the rock.

I tried that too but my turbos made it their mission to keep knocking my monti down... i glued it in the end but now my torch has grown so much it is almost touching the Monti making me regret my gluing it where it is...

I remember the day fondly when I was able to move my turbos to the sump!  Little bulldozers, I say.

Great workers though! Pity about their crap though, good thing my foxface thinks their poop is food :)

They almost eat day and night, so they transform green and live algae into death mater (poop). They should be considered like an extra fish for biological load. ???? Just judging by the amount of poop.

Agreed!!! The worst is when they find a corner with loads of algae build up, they will park off there till they have eaten it all and then when they slime off they leave a massive pile of crap pellets lol! The other day my larger one (Maximus) found the algae sheet I dropped in the night before, all that was left by the rock was a big pile of crap too lol.

I have never heard of this before, but I may never had had Mexican Turbos before. And that certainly explains all those little grey turds. Maybe I should get rid of 2,

I have 4 but I also have 6 nirite, not many but it seems like there is.

I have 2 turbos, 8 nassarrius and 8 nerites for my entire CUC and I havnt noticed much buildup of any detritus or algae on my rocks and sand except when I am nearing water change time (every two weeks). I see you also have a foxface, great little grazers!

Yes, The Fox Face has been a good addition, I'd never had one before but I have to supplement with Algea wafers because the snails do a great job. Over all i'm very pleased with the process of my tank. Every thing happens in time, patience is the key. It's a challenge to keep your water parameters excellent. Buying Corals and fish is easy and the tank looks great when it's full but it's a slow but very rewarding process. I've got lots of room on my sand bed for Clams and Brains and Chalices. But before I do that I need another good Power Head, A New RO/DI unit and a Kalk reactor. I'm not working at the moment so it's difficult yet still very rewarding.

it shouldnt take long for the monti to attach itself to the rock if you place the rim near a rock.
you can also use tlf epoxy, i use it quite frequently as i find it holds, BUT it can come off with a little pressure if need be.

Or dollar store gel glue, strong enough to hold it down but weak enough to break loose if you need to move it :)

I'd rather not put glue in my tank, Does the placement of the Montipora need to be near the top? Cause I got it wedged in a crevice 4 inches off bottom.

Loads of us use the glue with no ill effects. There are even brands made for corals which are essentially the same thing (cyanoacrylate). That's how peope get their frags to stick to frag plugs. But it is weird to stick super glue in a tank in the end :) apparently surgeons in Vietnam used it (superglue) to glue the edges of lacerated livers together. Lol
