how do you plan on using these filters? on your tap water, or are you planning on pumping your tank water thru these?

I seen these today to at princess auto... didnt read anything on it that would make you think that they wouldnt benefit our tank water... might have to pick up a unit too.
I dont know if Id plumb it right through your sump Blop, probably wouldnt like salt water.
Cheers!

I wasnt suggesting this ian, it was a question.

Im not sure this is a good idea crazybizzle. Im guessing the filters you are running are a 5micron sediment and 5micron carbon block? IMO none of this is needed to run your tank water thru. In all reality, in the long run it may be a bad thing. running your tank water thru those filters im guessing your going to have to change filters often. Not to mention they are not designed for saltwater.

1-as for the sediment filter, you can acheive the same by purchasing a simple filter sock. ( can be cleaned and reused)
2-carbon block, there are alot of different oppinions on the use of activated carbon, yes it will clear your water colour, but it will also remove alot of your trace elements. This means you will need to dose. Myself I use activated carbon in a reactor, every once and awhile, if I see water discolouration. but not 24/7
3-if algae is your reason for using this, its not going to help. activated carbon(depending on brand and type) can actually leach phosphates. In your case all you need is to run some gfo.

thanks blob thats good to know they are a 5 micron i will just be using this for a couple of weeks till i get some gfo cant find it anywhere so im just waiting for our brs order to start so i can order some i pretty much just want it to work till i can get that cause my bulbs are toast right now and my algae is really starting to pick up so at this point im trying everything to calm it down, i can only do so many wc's and i do dose every wc with trace elements and daily dosing of calccium just trying to keep things in order figured this could help till i get my empty media canisters and gfo.

These filters are only good to pre filter your ro di water to make your ro di filters last a little longer

ok ill pull the media cartridges that came with them but like i said i can use these just like the brs ones with the refillable media canisters right? so its just like the brs reactors.
