Vertex Deluxe R/O unit

Hi guys I have a Vertex Deluxe 100 Gal/day unit that is maybe 4 months old and I am getting 28 pp reading now. Any ideas what's up? Will I have to replace filters and membrane, if so what do you recommend. I find it disappointing that in this short time I am getting readings like this maybe I should have gotten the one with out the pump.

All depends on how much water you make and how 'dirty' it is. Also, these low waste water units go through media quicker. Save water...but spend more on media.

Oh ya I under stand that but I have maybe made 500 to 600 Gal. and I even have a softener in the house. Could it be that I have it plugged into a float valve in my sump so it turns on and off quite a bit and I unplug it from the float to top up my Planted Tank. The DI is dark about 1/3 and the rest is very light brown like it was when I started. Pre filter is still snow white so I am confused just wondering if anyone else has had this. Also I am on City water.

Constant on off is not good. Also let it run a few minutes befor reading the tds. Not sure how many gallons is average for that unit, but a few guys here run them.  I think it sounds about the right time to change em.

OK do you think I will need to change the membrane too or just all the pre filters and DI and do you think its ok to reduce the pre filters from 1uM to .5uM

I change my filters and di resin about twice a year.  That's approximately 3000 gallons of good water.  Have never had to change my membrane.  When I change media my Tds meter usually reads 3ppm.

And I think 3000 gallons is a low estimate because I usually waste a bunch of water as well setting up new tanks, moving etc.

I would check and make sure the membrane is seated correctly I've had them pop out a little bit in the past. sometimes a simple twist as you push it in

Also try resetting the controller to make sure you are not getting a false reading. Unplug the unit, wait 15 seconds then plug it back in.

Well I am doing a test to see if the DI resin is leaching stuff as unit sits. I pulled out the DI and ran system for a while and got a reading of 08. I put resin back in and ran it for a while and got a reading of 00. So i am letting it sit for a while and will run it and see what I get.
