Hey guys just wanted to know if anyone uses this unit and some thoughts on it. My unit I have now works good but I would like to upgrade to something better. I have noticed that I go through DI once a month.... always trickling waste water into the drain..... I have my ATO on a float valve directly into off of line coming out of unit.  Was thinking of changing that to a reservoir tank.

Also, other than J&L  is there a local store that carries them?

thanks in advance

I love my Vertex unit. It works exceptionally well IMO and the 1:1 good water to waste water is excellent. It also comes with the auto shut off, booster pump and digital tds meter built in. Definitely worth the extra money. I have had the unit for all most 2 years and still have no reason to change out the membrane yet as it is producing the same now as it was the first day I used it.

As for a local shop, I know Advanced Reef Aquatics in Milton carries anything and everything Vertex.

I too have the unit, Best purchase yet. As Spyd said ARA in Milton has them. My ATO is Gravity fed from a separate tank. I could run it off my unit but would rather not.

running your RODI unit directly into a float valve to maintain tank level results in the filter cycling on and off continuously and would explain why you are going to through DI resin that fast. Its a no no.

Switching to a better unit will not change anything.

+1  Running it direct is also a flood waiting to happen! When the valve fails and eventually it will you have an unlimited supply of water waiting to flood your system and then your room with FW.  I would unhook it asap and get a reservoir of some sort.

yur better to just empty yur reservior nd complety full the reservior right from the start ...having it full it from yur rodi unit in cycles isnt good.    as when it is shut off then starts again rememeber. the first min or so of a rodi unit starting isnt 0 tds.  so unless yur present when it starts. pull the hose out and wait till the water is 0 tds. then put it in yur reservior

Yes thanks for all the comments guys. I have ran the system like this for years and just currently changed outall the filters in January. I am going to head over to Milton today to purchase a new unit from Flavio. I see a store in Lond8n has them on sale but not worth the gas money to drive there.  I going to set up a 20g reservoir tank and then feed it to my float valve for ato.

So Peter are you saying all units are not pure water when they first start up?  I wasnt aware of this, have to research it.  That makes no sense why we would have to pull the supply line and prime everytime we needed water.....

yu will find that out when yu get yur vertex  all rodi units that have the tds meter on them will show yu that. ...i have the 100 gpd vertex and when it starts up. it does a flush and the first couple seconds is not 0 tds. ..when i full all my containers every weekend. i run it for a minute or so with hose into sink till it reads 0 tds. them put the hose into my container

Ya but in the grand scheme of things that spike of Tds is not a big deal at all.

It is a big deal if you are constantly on and off every 5 sec. And never get to making clean water. Always running in the spike.
