Voodoo blue stag new growth or starting to bleach?

I got a nice size colony of a voodoo blue staghorn from a fellow reefer. I got it last Sunday so it has only been a week so I don't think it would be already putting on new growth but I have seen bleached acros and the tips are a pail blue not white. I will add pics but they aren't the greatest since they are from my iphone and it's hard to get good shots with my LEDs. The coral has great polyp extension and there are even polyps coming out of the pail blue tips as well. Not quite sure but if it was bleaching you would think that there wouldn't be polyp extension out of the tips that are bleaching. On the other hand would it be growing after only a week? The mother colony was really healthy and the piece I got was definately not a small frag. Any advice would be appreciated as it's a beautiful coral and I don't want to loose it.

What type of lighting was the mother colony under ? Could have burned the tips if it wasn't grown out under LED? IMO it doesnt look like new growth it's pretty white looking.

It may actually been damaged or got stung, the rest of the colony looks fine, and stag is a hardy sps.  Just leave it and watch.

I have had sps grow out with white tips.....especially newer branches that first sprout out. I'm not saying that it is normal but it was growing. Best way to tell is to see if it is actually growing.....what I mean by that is you have to seen if the white tips are actually new growth or did the tips just turn white.....keep an eye on it. What does the base look like? Has it encrusted down at all?

I will also add that a better pic would help a lot.... It is very hard to tell what a coral is doing by looking at it in person, yet alone a blurry pic.....just stating the obvious here...don't get upset ;)

It came from under metal halide. I have bought frags from this person before am all of which are higher up being closer to the lights and no issue of burnt tips. As I said the pic doesn't do justice the tips are not white but a pail blue color also would there be polyp extension if they where bleaching. My sapphire tips acro is about 4" below water surface and that frag is showing explosive growth and that's what the tips of the voodoo blue look like but different in color as different corals. Just asking cuz I didn't think possible for a coral to start growing in a weeks time. I will try and get a better pic showing the true color of the tips in question

They could be growth tips which are all ways generally lighter. What  I would worry about more is the location near that anemone. With the base being so close, if the anemone makes constant contact it will sting your colony and will stress it out. This could potentially cause RTN or STN. Just a heads up. I try growing SPS around my BTA and it gets stung and crappy. I only out pieces around it that I am very impartial to.

Yes I thought about that and the nem. It is just out if reach of the stag but at anytime can move. I will relocate my candy cane coral then move the stag up a bit this will also free up space for my sour apple birdsnest as well. I will keep an eye to see if it colors up like my other acros do. I do take into consideration sweeper tenticles from neighbouring coral when choosing placement.

i am using the same led light as yu are.  ..at coral acclimation mode...my light is 10 inchs above the water. and i  got some birdsnest goin white.    so i took my par meter. and that birdsnest is about 8 inchs underwater amd the par  reads 170  right beside the birdsnest

Larry I am running it in increased coral growth and have been for about a month now but like I said before if you look at my full tank pic I have a bunch of frags way closer to the top with no issues. My lights run at 100% but periodically dim simulating cloud cover. I have an orange montipora setosa, sapphire tips acro, banana yellow tabling acro, german blue digitata and forest fire digitata all of which are in the top 6" of water and are growing like crazy and no issues with burning. If you get a chance plug you controller in and put all 4 channels on 100% and let me know what par readings are like then. I think I am gonna just bite the bullet and buy an apogee MQ 200 par meter. On another forum I saw a write up someone did with I believe a fixture with 55 3 watt bridgelux LEDs with 90 degree optics and was 12" above water line and was getting par readings of over 350 on the sand bed over a 90 gallon tank. We have 79 3 watt LEDs so our numbers should be close.
