wake up call

So I wake up at 1am to my return pump running dry and my display almost overflowing. Tanks been running a year with no drain issues, until now. I'm not exactly sure what's going on but I can not run my return full anymore or the tank will overflow. I've checked the drains for blockage and nothing. 2 drains 1.5" and 3/4", any ideas it's now 430 am and I'm scared to go to bed, the level won't stay the same in the overflow chamber.

Re: wake up call

That water has to be going somewhere. Give your pump a good cleaning if all a drain lines are wide open it sounds like your pump is pumping too quick

Check the drains for snails.  There must be a blockage especially when dealing with a 1.5inch pipe.  That pipe should handle some of the larger pumps on the market.

I had the same problem last week. Found a snail in there.  I noticed the water level was higher then usual

The culprit, not a f*ucking clue what it is, it how it got into the overflow. Took me 10 minutes today to get it out with a shop vac.

It is the plastic bottom cover of a glass heater by the looks of it. Definitely no idea how it got into your display to get into your return.

It was in my drains standpipe. Not in the returns, but good call on the heater bottom. But I don't have heaters that have them. Still no clue how it got there.

I knew I recognized it even. It is from a Elite Submersible Heater. I have the same ones. I hadn't had my morning coffee when I wrote the above comment. Extremely weird that you do not have one that would use a cover, but even weirder is how it got into your drain.

Tell me about it. I have not a clue. I'm glad I found it.

my overflow came with a screen over top. Only something the size of the slits can get in.
Something others might want too put over theres for insurance.
