I have a vertex puratek.
I love it. 100 gpd, has a tds meter, it has the extra pressure pump as-well
I havent had any problems with it (knock on wood).
Most filters are interchangeable.
Depends what your looking to do.
I added the 2 chambers after for just di resin. When the second starts to turn i move it to the first chamber and ad a new canister to the second. This getting maximum time out of resin.
I have heard the brs one is a complete unit. Accept the pump is seperate.
Cheers. Hope this helped some.

I have a 5 stage BRS with dual yrs and pressure gauge. I would love to do the vertex one, but this works great still and doing other upgrades at the moment.

House in Newmarket area is on well so I jut run it through a 4 stage sediment carbon and RO membrane and DI resin comes out almost 0 TDS. In Sudbury on the small reef I just use the RO buddy with the DI resin. Takes around 2 hours to make 5 gallons. Comes out 0-5 TDS every time good little system. Price can’t beat it. Easy to use just connect to the tap. Have no complaints with it. I’ll probably just buy a complete new unit sell the old one for $20 when it’s time to change everything. $80 if it lasts a year I’ll be happy.

Dose having 0 tds water help with bubble algae? And phosphates ?
Not bubbple algae or phosephates. It cleans the water of an6y contaminants that are considered safe for human consumption. I do not know exactly what is in my water, but it comes out of the pipes at 350ppm and out of my filter at 0 ppm. People use RO/DI because we don't know what exactly is in our water and typically is the reason why many tanks are not successful. You can not determine the problem if you don't know what is in the water.

Reefsupplies has a decent RO/DI system on sale for black friday, i just grabbed one. I was using a premade filter system before that was perfect when i only had a biocube, however now that im in the process of having approx ~350 gallons of total aquariums in my house it was time to spend a little to save alot in the long haul.

So what gets rid of algae and phos and bubble algae ? Other then removing yourself ?
Is your original question about ro/DI being a solution to a bubble algae and phos issue?

The only way to lower phosephates is heavy water changes or some sort or granulated ferric oxide aka GFO or similar products. A fuge helps at low level

Short term you could also use some phosphate rx to get your levels to drop off then maintain by running gfo as @TORX stated. Emerald crabs are supposed to love bubble algae which would be another short term solution until you get your phosphates under control.

Yes I’ve had emerald crabs , I also do it myself when it’s on the glass where the crabs will never get to , not sure if gfo is sorta the same as a phos remover (I’ve been using seachem phos remover) but not sure how well it’s working in a canister filter , but yeah

And @TORX i thought if not using ro or rodi it would cause phos to rise then algae comes with it .

Okay, for a second I thought this thread was going completely off topic is all. Just want to make sure the discussion is following what your intent was.
