What Size Sump?

75 Gal tank

I plan on running a Herbie overflow into the sump.

In the sump I was looking at a Reef Octopus 110 or 150 Protein skimmer.

A BRS dual reactor will be in the stand as well and down the road an ATO.

After the Protein skimmer I will put in a bubble trap leading to the return pump.

What size tank should I be took at for the sump? My concern is getting something large enough to fit the skimmer

what is the minimum depth for the skimmer, make sure you can achieve that for best skimmer performance.

And consider the stand, an higher sump will make it impossible to work in. Hence why I had to cut out my sump in my first 120. Here is the before and after. Almost could not get my skimmer cup out in the beginning.

I was at Big Al's a month ago and they don't have any nice looking stands.

And my carpentry skills are pretty limited, so building one is out of the question. I plan on having the tank in a main area of the house so the stand as well as the tank need to look nice and fit the decor ..... or else the boss (aka wife) won't let it stay.

The one you posted a link to is a fairly cheaply built stand. It will look nice, but won't last long with a couple spills onto it with saltwater.

Salt creep does nasty things. If you do go with a premade stand like the one in the post, I would look into coating it with something. (Someone else may be able to help you here as I have always just made mine myself)

I have no problem building a solid stand. From what I have seen online it's pretty easy and straight forward building a solid frame to hold the tank.

My issue will be the finishing of the stand. wrapping it in oak plywood or similar, adding (building) doors, and adding any sort of finishing trim to make it look nice.

We'll see what I can come up with.

If you're not a cabinet maker type of guy, any easy and fairly clean look is the cottage knoty pine boards, make a 2x4 stand, finish ends with 1/4ply, build doors using same, cover entire exposed area with pine. All you need is some liquid nails glue and a saw to cut it, but if you have a nail gun available I'd recommend that. You can get cottage grade for about $5 a bundle and go up to high quality grade for about $15 bundle, but that stuff is usually lots thicker
