I'm going to try a quick video update for week 7.

-Skimmer switched out to a deltec
-Added a nice maze brain
-Added Copperband butterfly, Sailfin Tang and a Coral Beauty.
-Gyre 150 installed and running at 20%
-Removed the crappy 700ghp aqueaon powerheads.

Connected my mag12 return to my deltec skimmer

It sure is nice to have the level controls!

I feel as kelo led is performing well, still running rather low just started to ramp up a little today.

Also had some time and connected my reefkeeper auto top off using an mj1200. Actually running so much better then my tunze ATO. Super funny as it kicks on for only 2 seconds haha.

Can't wait for frag fest!

Hopefully someone can help me find this part.

I just picked up a new dc pump to bring top off water from my basement up to my sump

ZKSJ DC 12V 1.1A 13.2W Brushless Magnetic Drive Centrifugal Submersible Oil Water Pump ... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00C6XNB50/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awd_KDPOwb1MGK507

This has a male 1/4 inch thread on it. My plan was to use the 1/4 to 1/4 push connect and run rodi tubing.

The only place I can find this part is bulk reef supply. But it comes to nearly $40 with shipping and exchange rate. There is no way I'm paying that.

Is anyone aware of somewhere else I can get this part in Canada or even better local close to London ?

Edit ** is there a such thing as a
Check valve safe for reef that will quick connect to a 1/4 rodi line?

And it works!! Just have to get a friend over with his tools to hide the line in the wall.

Total cost:
Pump - $25.99 with free shipping
25 feet water line - $7.18
Coupler and adapter - $6.70
Wire - $0 recycled
Power adapter - $0 recycled
Total $39.87

I'm super stoked I can't believe it actually worked!!
Also I will pickup a check valve just to be safe.

Next I need to work on the rodi float system and a way to work with the salt mixing

How hard do you think it would be to have 1 tank and pump top off 3 tanks?
Because That would be great. :)

It would depend on what you wanted to use for the brain. In my case the reefkeeper elite has two float switches that I'm able to program whatever pump I wanted.

Assuming all 3 tanks have RKE then 3 of these setups all to the same rodi holding tank would work great.

I remember reading somewhere that the tunze top off would support other pumps and could be plumbed in this way, just not sure if this one is compatible being DC and 12volt.

Tiny humble beginning to what will someday be a fish room

e8808492ccbefa6349567cea563d1097.jpg

Carved out a little space under the stairs in the laundry room to hold 2x 20gallon brute and my salt.

One brute for auto top off and the second is salted with a heater and powerhead ready for on demand water change.

Rodi is connected to laundry sink and for now is manually turned on and off as needed. I will be looking into connecting via float to prevent over filling.

10 gallon hospital tank also to be set up in this space and around the corner I'm looking into some used kitchen base cabinets to store some of my goodies.

Going to attempt a smaller water change via my auto top off line later tonight or Tmr just to see if works.

20g brute for an auto top off?? :/

personally you want to limit the size of your ato due to potential malfunciton.
if 5 or 6 g of water dumps into your tank, you'll see salinity swings that can cause damage for sure... but if 20g dumps in? well then thats a crash for sure :(

Very good point indeed. What's the best way to add redundancy? I have the high float set just above my top off line as a backup. Once 2nd float is tripped reef keeper shuts off top off pump. But if reef keeper fails.....

I started looking into other backup solutions and this looked promising
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/flow-lok-leak-detector-for-rodi-systems.html

Flow lok connect direct to the 1/4 inch line. Could this be setup near the top of the sump? In event reef keeper fails or both floats fail this would physically block the line

First time playing around with white balance. Camera is a point and shoot Sony cybershot dsc-wx200 using the white balance check and auto set. Images are cropped but no other edits at all.
