Nothing under my pumps yet, been looking for inexpensive mats to zip tie around them. Most the noise was coming from the overflow down into sump but after I added the filter sock it's almost gone now!

It's coffee time and that means another small update.

Tank dropped in temp overnight and tripped alarm on the reefkeeper. When I woke up this morning was at 77.5F. I wish the RK would keep a log/graph overnight from what I understand the net module is required for that. 300 watt heater is not enough to keep this tank warm in the winter as we usually keep the house a little cooler at night. I will drop in the extra 200 watt heater and program it to align with the 300 watt.

The Filter sock is already overflowing out the top splashing around creating a mess. My guess is the micron was too low and somehow got plugged up already with fresh RODI and salt lol. I hope local fish place here has something I can use in stock.

Equipment to consider:
-ReefKeeper net module
-Another PC4 reefkeeper power bar
-probe/tube holder
-2 part doser ( possible reefkeeper addon )
-auto top off brackets
-2x kessil a360n ( little too expensive )
-4x par 38 reef bulbs

I am not a patient man...

Nano cube moved into new tank. Rock is all tossed in there for now
-1 watchman goby
-2 clown pair ( black / orange )
-About 5 red leg hermit crab and 5 blue leg
-40 pounds live rock. About 1 yr old
-Several various coral frags
-And a hand full of different snails
-I'm keeping sand alive to throw in fuge in the next few days once I settle this filter sock issue.
-I have fixed up a temporary mount for my vertex led and increased the power from 25% to 100%.

Today I have to figure out this filter sock issue. I'll head out to local fish store in hopes of finding a filter sock with larger holes. I also need to sit down and make a plan for some new plumbing on the overflow. It's WAY too hard to clean the sock and I already know that I wont clean it as much as it should be if I have shut off main pump then unscrew a union to get it out. I'm also noticing the splash is creating a mist in that corner of the tank which will no doubt cause some serious salt buildup overtime.

I'd like to get the refugium started today as well. Does anyone have some spare macro in the London area to help me get started?

Starting to look a little better, getting most things into place!
- I cut an old zip-lock container to fit over the filter sock enclosure and that is helping a whole bunch in keeping the "spray" down
- Installed another power bar on the opposite side from the reefkeeper ones for things like the stand lighting and fuge light.
- All the substrate from my bio cube has been transferred into refugium along with old live rock rubble from chamber 2 of cube.
- moved skimmer into first chamber of sump.
-small bag of both carbon and chemi pure elite added into return chamber.

Tank is progressing well, getting everything tuned up. Installing auto top off today and cleaning my old cube up for sale. Also dosed some calcium to help boost my level closer to 400ppm.

Chaz shared a cool link with me in regards to modification to the super skimmer. I will definitely be looking into this in the near future.

Dropped into sea life yesterday and picked up a red starfish and a clove polyp!

It's been a few weeks now and still no algae or diatom outbreak! I've been moving some things around slowly and it's looking a lot better however I still feel like there is a long way to go until i'm satisfied with the aquascape.

- Two brand new Kelo AO led lights are installed, thanks for unibob's recommendation. Height off water is 7 inches and I have power set to minimum on both channels for 6 hours with blue alone for 3 hours at night.
- Sm Hippo Tang added thanks to Sealife Central.
- Temp has been rock solid now. ReefKeeper temp probe is in overflow box and two 200 watt heaters are in the refugium.
- A small amount of red macro algae added to refugium thanks to chaz!
- Added small frog spawn and torch coral frags from chaz as well.

Still working on water movement, hopefully I'm still able to pickup that Gyre x150 this guy has promised me once his Live rock is sold off.

Has anyone ever filled their overflow box with sand to create an ultra deep sand bed?

The thought is my overflow box is rather large and it would help with detritus settling on the bottom, snails starfish and even curious fish would be much easier to catch!

Has anyone ever done this? Any cons from experience?

Hippo Tang did not make it. :( He decided to jump out of the tank and turn himself to fish jerky on the floor. I've had an open top reef for close to 4 years now and this would be my first experience with a jumper. I suppose it happens......

I popped into [removed:Torx] and picked up a salifin tang and a coral beauty, both seem to be doing great and picking at my rocks for algae all day long!

Rocked out all my tests and everything is near perfect so started dosing some extra calcium to bump up in the 400's . Everything is looking nice and clean and seems to be humming along great! My Gyre should be ready any day now and I'm super excited!

Update on the kelo lights. I do have to say I'm impressed with the POP that these lights are giving off. Does anyone know if the kessil spectral controller ( http://beanbagfrags.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_63_91&product_id=325 ) is compatible with this setup? I'm assuming so since it's just a 0-10V using a 3.5mm jack

Oh and picked up a killer birdsnest. I'll get some pictures flowing up here soon.

I picked up a bunch of that rock from [removed:Torx] when I started my reef and love it... It's not solid at all... Insane amount of surface area. You could point a power head straight into it and feel flow on the other side.

...sorry to hear about your fish jerky :(
