OK I know there is a lot of these DIY filters around but I wanted to make one that I could use as a trap for amphipods, didn't quite work though
Materials:
Drinking jug with fruit/tea leaf separator(just the screen part)
Some piping, air hose
Power head glass magnet
Zipties
Those are the things I had lying around that I didn't have to buy, the jug I bought at a thrift store while looking for a plastic coffee maker screen I can use for brine shrimp.
this was going to be my project trap it turned out something like this
I also made a lid with a hole in the middle from the original lid
And the final filter in my fudge looked something like this
After a whole night I can say it didn't really trap anything useful, some free-floating dirt a tiny bristle worm, peaces of macroalgea, and only 4 amphipods, 2 of them were hanging outside of the filter though haha
Other uses you could probably fill it with some kind of filter media.
