Impossible to starve them they live off detritus which is always in your rock and sand. Even if you started over with all dry rock and cure it all yourself one frag will bring in one one day and they will be back. If you have plague amounts running around then you may want to siphon off your rocks and sandbed to remove some of the excess detritus maybe give your rocks a good blow with a power head every few days to help keep them clean. That fine dust doesn't take long to buildup in the rock pores
