i have a question,
can/ do hammer corals self-propagate?

i have a large colony of hammer coral and a couple months ago a head started to let go of its base, i thought it was dying and the next day it was floating around in behind my rockwork,

well i was tank gazing this morning and found that head, lodged into a crevice in my rock work, fully open and growing...
its in a place where i cannot get to it, only watch it...

i was wondering if this is normal? i didnt think it possible....

Some corals will "move" if they are unhappy/healthy.

Typically, they grow small little "buds" at their bases. If the tops die off, they get light, and grow. Or, fish knock them off, and they start where they land. They can also drop a calcium piece with some flesh, and it starts to grow again.
