Holes in mushroom coral !

I have a mushroom coral that appears to be very healthy and is growing, now about 8'' wide. My question is last week, I started to notice holes appearing in the top of this coral :-[ currently there are 4 holes, the largest about half the size of a dime.

Any suggestions as to what is causing this and cures please.

What fish and inverts are in the tank? if you think it looks healthy otherwise, I'd be willing to bet something has developed a sweet tooth for them.

What kind of mushroom?
I have a green hairy mushroom.  I developed holes just before it split into 3 separate 'shrooms At about 8-9 inches.

I had a devils that was doing awesome and it got holes also. the fingers started dropping off and self fragging. really bizarre. hopefully you get it figured out. keep us posted
