Nice shots Aaron! I agree with the IDs. The first could also be a female Hairy woodpecker, but I would guess female Downy. The two species look pretty much identical, with the hairy being slightly bigger. Really like the first waxwing shot, they are beautiful birds. Nice shots for only a 250 focal length.
As for the posts regarding composition, I agree that typically it is standard to put a bit more space in the area where your subject is moving or looking towards. Composition however is the photog's to play with, doesn't always need to apply to standards to make a great image. I like the composition of the second image, the first waxwing, the best.
