If you are having issues maintaining alkalinity, it can be attributed to low magnesium levels. Do you know what your mag level is at? If your manesium is at target (1250-1350) you should be able to maintain your alkalinity levels better.

That's the weird part mag is fine, it's like 1320.  I can't understand why my Alk is dropping. I'm going to test my entire tank and post result in a bit.

Nitrates - .2
Alk - 6
Mag - 1410
Calcium - 450
Phosphates - 0

So I dropped a whole point.  Is this normal for my Alk to drop this much?
Ive got 4 LPS and 2 SPS.  So why am I dropping so fast?

are you dosing directly in to the tank in a high flow area? does the Mg test kit also expire in 2016?

i would try to stop dosing that product and dose with Sodium Carbonate myself. Seems like a fair drop for overnight. Maybe that brightwell stuff is precipitating in the water and not mixing properly and thats why your getting the extreme drops everytime you dose it.

I believe mag expires in 2015,  and I like the brightwell cause it's really easy lol.  I'll test agian tomorrow.  Today it only dropped by 1
