I was looking at this one as well. The original models had some issues though so hopefully they fixed them this time around. The old models were running off a Sicce pump and would have start-up issues as the air was too much for it to handle. They have changed the impeller this time around though. The other issue is that you needed to clean the pump every 2 weeks because debris would collect too quickly and the unit would drop from 3000lph to 1500lph over 2 weeks. They claim they have changed the vollute now so this does not happen anymore... I would honestly wait and read some reviews after a few months time to ensure these issues have been fixed.

I have been following that as well Derek, which is why it has taken so long for this newest version to make it to the market. I look forward to hearing from the "critics" over time. I am hopeful and trust ATI got it right. Their reputation manufacturing Protein Skimmers is resting on it.

I've sort of thought it has been a meshwheel to pinwheel issue when it comes to how often you have to clean the pump.  Atman makes a junk pump, period, but complaints about them getting dirty quickly usually came from people that used the meshwheel.  This new pump looks to have a rigid meshwheel, but it still looks like it might collect crud.  Maybe not though, maybe the spacing is just right.  Looks like a really good skimmer, and honestly I don't see a better price that AI's out there right now (gotta give credit when due).

Of course, after hacing a BM POS, I'm partial to any skimmer that has an external pump...  ;D
