Rubbermaid BRUTES have long been used by hobbyists with out problem.

None of them are gonna be food grade as any rubbermaid, garbage can, tote could be made from recycled plastic.

Food grade you need HDPE (which still doesnt make it food grade) and the title of being food grade.

Thats my understanding of it anyway.

I use 22g rubbermaid brutes (i recently put a thread in the diy). The brutes are $20 at home depot in port huron, i think they are $35 at home depot here. The Brute cans in gray are certified to NSF standard 2 which i believe means they are food grade. I have tested my water after a week in the can and TDS is still zero.
