what is this

Its not cyano.
Its like a velvet hair that creeps along the rock. It can not be scrubbed off. I tried with a tooth brush.
I have seen my hippo and foxface eating it.

Looks like a red turf algae maybe? I've had it on rocks at one point.. It just kinda all went away on its own tho

hope it goes away. I have some hair algae.
I'm going too cut my feeding down. Hopefully with the new skimmer it will get better.
I was just curious. It is strange looking stuff. Not like normal hair stuff or anything else i had seen.

do you have a lawnmower blenny? they rock and i bet it would mow down on that stuff.

[/quote]that is a green goby.    the sand shifting gobys dont do shit all on my tank.  i guess its a hit and miss

Careful when cutting back on feeding..... If doing so because of algae outbreaks then I would recommend maybe better nutrient export....
I have seen a lot of corals suffer from reduced feedings to control nutrient issues....
