Not a vermatid snail I have them and they look like this
But maybe that is the stage before they connect to the rock?

Could be. Has the same crazy mouth. Whatever it is, where could it have come from? All my rock is new dry fron mops. I bought a few different kinds of "decorative algae" (shaving brush, mermaid fan, halimeda, pom pom). Could it have come in on those?

Some are tiny some are big, some spiral around, some run on the rock work in lines, some grow straight up to out compete Stoney corals, and yes it could come from anywhere all it takes is one egg to make it through a dip.

Probably a far cry, but if it was a very small it could have been on that snail since you bought it. Is that a snail you see often? Is it possible it slowly grew? Or are you assuming it attached as an adult?

I have 8 of those snails. Impossible for me to know how often I've seen that particular one. Pretty obvious now though!

Does it look like a catchers mit? Like it sweeps the water and retracts back in, then comes back out?
