I got a 1 banded shrimp a month or so ago, and noticed lately he seems to be guarding this white thing when he's not foraging. Not sure what it is. Kinda hard to see it great in the picture, but it is between his big front two claws. It is shaped like a cylinder, with a nipple looking end. Any ideas what it could be?

Agreed. Pineapple sponge. Often shows around 6 months of newer tanks, then seem to multiply like mad, then go away then come back ehre and there. All good.

Thanks for the ID,, wasn't sure if anyone could tell by the picture. Read about them online too and sounds like harmless filter feeders.

I have tons of this in the back sump of AIO tank. I scrub them off and they ended up in DT. I thought they are pods cocoon.

My pods population seems to exploded as well.

My tank will be 6 months old on April 27. I read that pineapple sponge explosion can be a normal sign of maturing tank as well. Is there anything I can do to eliminate them? They look hideous to me.
