Peppermint shrimp is the way to go and zap thd really big ones. I had them introduced in my tank from a rock with zoa - with in a month I had 10 I could see. I first started with vinegar and needle couldn't keep up (had high nutrients) got 1 peppermint shrimp after a few weeks I have not seen them since.

Peppermint do eat aiptasia, however it is important to be aware that this species has been notorious for attacking softies such as hammers, torches, frogspawn, etc....I was going to buy one but the shocking amount of people who have reported coral attacks made me change my mind.....

I bet ya most of those were camels miss labbeled lol i have a lil of everything and never had a nip sure it could happen but is pretty rare and doubtful if coral was happy anytime i read of peppermints eating things the end was normally " it was actually a camel" if youcheck google for an accredited site it will say the same thing.... peppermints are completely reef safe camels arent..... and alot of people on forums cant tell the difference or have made that mistake mostly due to lfs not knowing the difference. One thing that you have to worry is when you spotfeed lps those shrimp will sneak in and steal the mysis which is where some prob believe its eating theor coral.

I wanna see a pic of a peppermint eating a healthy coral if anyone even has one :)

Here's the link to the thread where I got the video in case anyone is interested.....

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1756598

In a nut shell, my point is that there are species out there listed as being reef safe but if you do thorough research you will find that many that are considered generally reef safe may actually have a poor track record behind them.... I'm just simply warning people of this. Take for instance a yellow clown goby.... Listed as being reef safe on live aquaria and many other sites but put them in a tank filled with acros and you will soon find out the hard way that you have been duped.....

Peppermint shrimps seen today for sale - 3 for $30
Discount Dragon Aquarium, Mississauga

That's a good deal!!!!
I would seriously try a couple Peppermints if I had a major outbreak Bcuz their track record of eating aiptasia is excellent. Sure there is the very small chance of what I have warned about but it's worth trying them id say if you have tried manual methods without any success.....
I may actually try one in the future ..... I have very few aips pop up so manual attack works well
For me....

Thought I'd revive this thread. I purchased a couple peppermint shrimp from IA about two weeks. Put them into my small frag tank and now all aiptasia has been gone for a few days now.... There was even a couple bigger ones too :)
