Looks like a case of brown jelly is deciding to take a run at some of my LPS. My orange wall hammer and my 1 head of my branching hammer colony are being affected.

Seems like there are no real cures to this nasty little disease either.

If you are removing the coral shut off all water flow first. Then remove. You don't what that blowing onto your other corals. Or you will spark a brown jelly fire that spreads to most of your corals.

Only way I have also is cut the dead areas out. I have also used super glue on the affected spots if they were in hard to cut spots.

FWIW...I lost a few acan colonies a while back to an outbreak of brown jelly...the acans were previously damaged which likely caused the outbreak. At the end after trying fragging and iodine dips FW baths etc. I essentially gave up and just removed the last colony with a few heads still alive and dumped it into my QT tank that was running a full dosage treatment of Metronidazole for a new fish. Not really coral safe in theory..... Brown jelly died out and acan recovered. I'm not prepared to say it wasn't just coincidence but considering nothing else worked....if I have brown jelly in the future that is what I would try first...

Well I took a dremel and cut the last healthy part of wall hammer away from the infected parts. It broke my heart to have to slice up this beautiful colony.

The part that was dying anyways has drastically gone down hill. It looks like the stress of cutting it has really had a bad impact on it overall.

As for the healthy part, it isn't doing AMAZING, but it is still fluffy and extending some hammers out there. Time will tell.

Wish me luck guys.
